First stop: Ober Mountain Adventure Park and Ski Area. This place has every detail buttoned up! Summer fun is one of their specialties. Buy a wristband and hang on for the ride. Literally. You can take the tram up the mountain from down in Gatlinburg. Once on Ober Mountain, check out the Wildlife Habitat, ride the Tennessee Flyer, a fun rollercoaster, fly down the Alpine Slide or go ice skating. You can also ride inner tubes, climb a rock wall or take a scenic chairlift ride. Your wristband covers it all!

Another high-flying adventure that is not to be missed? Anakeesta Mountaintop Park. It would be impossible to capture the essence of this very special place in just a few words. As with Ober, your Anakeesta experience begins down in Gatlinburg, where you can board a Chondala bound for the mountaintop park. The adventurous will choose the open-air chair for four while others may opt for an enclosed, gondola-style ride. You’ll  disembark 600 feet higher, entering what Anakeesta has named the Firefly Village. It’s just as special as its name indicates.  Stunning mountain views, treetop-themed shopping opportunities and good food make it shine. Every wondered what it would be like to wander from treetop to treetop through the forest, soaking in the views beneath you? You’ll find out if you head to the Anakeesta Treetop Skywalk. There are 880 feet of hanging bridges to traverse. You may spot a black bear beneath your feet, sauntering through his habitat, completely oblivious to the humans above. Anakeesta offers a thrill around every corner, it seems. There are mountain coasters, gem mining and the Treehouse Adventure Play Area, among other attractions at the park.  It’s a can’t-miss place!

Finally, if you come to the Gatlinburg – Pigeon Forge – Sevierville area in the summer and skip Dollywood, well, what a shame! In addition to live entertainment, great dining and unique shopping opportunities, Dollywood has a renowned theme park with rides to suit nearly any age visitor! In the hotter months, the waterpark, known as Dollywood’s Splash Country, shines bright! Float down a lazy 1,500-foot faux river, race down an exciting water slide, or cool off in the 25,000-square-foot wave pool.
